Introduction

I created this blog in order to document my genealogy research.

   I was born and raised in Albemarle County/Charlottesville, Virginia, where my mother's family has resided since the Revolutionary War.

   My father is originally from Rainelle, Greenbrier County, West Virginia; he moved to Virginia in the 1960s, along with his parents and siblings. 

   I have always enjoyed hearing family tales and looking at photographs of family that is no longer with us. 

   I started researching my ancestors in 2000, I actually remember my first internet search when I typed in "Fleshman family of Rainelle". I actually found a lot of information with that first try. 
    I will start with my Smith paternal line first because that's where all of my DEAD ENDS are!
